"Impressive doesn't even come close to what was achieved - WOW!"

(Rose Bowl Awards, Barnum Adjudication)

In addition we are often invited to take part in other events and productions at local theatres throughout the year.  A number of our pupils compete in Dance Festivals around the South West of England and this year are representing Team England at the World Dance Challenge in Portugal in December.  In recent years we have been asked by the BBC to provide dancers for fundraising performances such as Children in Need.

We are lucky to have been asked by our Patron, Andrew Wright, to perform in his fundraising One Enchanted Evening in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey this August alongside a host of West End stars.

We encourage our pupils to audition whenever local and national opportunities arise, and will always try to pass on audition information to any pupil who may be interested. Our pupils are often successful at audition, and we are proud that for the last few years many of the principals and the majority of the chorus and dancers for the pantomimes at Strode Theatre in Street and The Little Theatre in Wells have been South West School of Dance pupils.

All our pupils are given as many opportunities as possible to perform over the course of the year.

We put on our own dance show every other December at Strode Theatre in Street. The show spans five performances open to the general public which are always a sell out, and involve all pupils within the school from 4 years and up.  This is a wonderful celebration of dance spanning all ages and all the disciplines we offer within the school.

In May 2015 we brought the musical Cats to Strode Theatre for the first time which played to a full audience for five shows.  Barnum, hit the stage in May 2017 and dazzled audiences with stunning singing, dancing, circus skills and acrobatics.

Our 2019 show 'Broadway and Beyond' was a celebration of all things musical theatre, with numbers from old classics like The King and I and 42nd Street, to the most recent productions such as Avenue Q and Priscilla.

Our whole school dance show Inspire 2020 is currently on hold due to Covid-19 but we very much hope to be able to bring this to audiences next year.
